Message from the President
Dr. A. Valentine Odife | PANES HOUSE, 82-88
On behalf of the 2024–2026 Executive Committee, I extend my sincere greetings and gratitude to our distinguished members, supporters, and friends of KCOBANA across North America and around the world.
As alumni of King’s College, Lagos, we are both custodians of a proud legacy and stewards of its future. Our strength lies not in our numbers, but in our shared commitment to serve, lead, and give back.
This past year demonstrated the power of that commitment. Our historic Reunion Weekend in Houston welcomed more than 300 alumni and guests from around the world, making it one of the most successful gatherings in KCOBANA history. Hosted at the NASA Space Center, it celebrated our heritage while reaffirming our responsibility to future generations.
We were honored by former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, whose keynote address challenged us to embrace leadership, service, and impact. His generous contribution to the KCOBANA Scholarship Endowment Fund further underscored his dedication to empowering future King’s College students.
We were also privileged to welcome His Royal Highness Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, whose steadfast support for education and institutional excellence continues to inspire our community.
Another landmark achievement was our partnership with Giants of Africa, led by Masai Ujiri. Announced in Houston and now realized, this collaboration delivered a world-class basketball court at King’s College, Lagos. More than a sports facility, it stands as a symbol of opportunity, youth empowerment, and renewed investment in both the Igbosere community and our alma mater.
These achievements mark important progress, but our work continues.
KCOBANA remains committed to strengthening our scholarship and endowment initiatives, expanding global alumni engagement, fostering educational partnerships, and advancing the effort to return stewardship of King’s College to those who know and cherish it best—its alumni.
President John Adams asked, “If we do not lay ourselves out in the service of mankind, whom should we serve?” That spirit of service remains our guiding principle.
Together, we are proving that the legacy of King’s College is not only to be remembered, but renewed, strengthened, and passed forward.
Thank you for your continued support, generosity, and belief in our mission.
The future is bright. The work continues. The best is yet to come.
Floreat Collegium.
